The penultimate game of the season.
Shan Masood is currently engaged in a D/N 50 over game in Faisalabad, he made 41 for the Stallions out of 336/5 which the Lions are chasing, so we can rule him out.
I hope we can rule YJB in, if not then Joe Root, just to give us that bit of experience. Of course you would never say no to a cricketing legend, but if we suddenly had the pair of them available then it would mean a difficult decision on who to leave out, probably Luxton.
If Mathew Fisher came through the last game alright then again of course we have to play him.
Same team as at Grace Road perhaps!

I hope we win both matches, I really do.
In the last match at Cardiff. 1171 runs for 25 wickets only 3 innings. Ingram flogged the Leicester bowling for 257 not out. There have been4 fairly high scoring draws at Cardiff this season. I hope that we do not have to play the last game on the Headingley Heap and need a win.

Sophia Gardens, or the SWALEC, or whatever it's currently called, will remain terra incognita to me, except I once parked my car there for a rugby international, which England lost, cheated by a blind Australian referee who awarded Wales a ridiculous knock-on try. Carling's England were uncharacteristically terrible, though, on a really horrible weather day, so that makes it 30-odd years ago.
Weather looks okay for this week however, and the Glammy commentary team is arguably the best on the circuit. Watching the T20 International there, it might be a 2-spinner pitch? Anyway, a good dollop of bonus points wouldn't do us any harm.

Same 13 man squad for Yorkshire as at Leicestershire last week. Decision to be made on whether to go with two spinners and if so who to leave out.

If we can win, we're almost promoted, at least 18 points* ahead of Middlesex, going into the last game, so needing only 7, worst case.
Suppose we draw, with decent bonus points...let's say 6 + the 8 for the draw = 14 (yes, really).
If Middlesex smash Derbyshire, 24 points, they're still 5 behind. If they draw, they're 13 behind minimum.
Of course, if we come away from Cardiff with not much, we're vulnerable. Too many 'ifs', but I was trying to get my head around the arithmetic.
[*18 points - I am assuming that, if we do win, we will have 3 bowling points. Any tie-break would favour Middlesex, whether more wins, fewer defeats, or head-to-head.]

In the predictions I've got Derbyshire down to finish in 3rd place so they have a lot to do in their final pair of games. Actually the best they can do is about 6th but I fancy them in this round to come away with a win over Middlesex.
Nice to have some excitement going into the final round, but nicer if it's a case of Us and Sussex going for the top spot with the others out of the way.

Glamorgan have announced a 14 man squad:
Sam Northeast (c) Kiran Carlson, Chris Cooke, Mason Crane, Dan Douthwaite, Andy Gorvin, Colin Ingram, Ben Kellaway, Ned Leonard, Ben Morris, Asa Tribe, James Harris, Will Smale, Timm Van Der Gugten.
In the end no Root in either side.
Glamorgan have the Metro Bank Final on Sunday which might well be their priority for the season now.

Quotes from Sam Northeast:
“It is a big week for the Club and everyone is really excited. “If we put up a good performance here against Yorkshire that will lead up well for Sunday.” “We are trying to balance between the red-ball and the white-ball at the minute. There are also a few in the group with a shout of making their debut tomorrow.”

That will be Will Smale, and Ben Morris. I reckon they will leave out Van Der Gugten and possibly Douthwaite with next Sunday in mind.

Apart from Northeast, I hardly recognise any of the names. What happened to Jones, Lewis, Hedges, Walker, Rees, Shepherd and Wheatley ? Root normally does well against us so glad he is not playing. Sad thing is they are in a cup final and we are not, but I guess promotion will be ok for this year. Hopefully they have half an eye on winning a trophy, and you can't blame them.

Glamorgan do look a bit lightweight, on the batting side in terms of the squad selected and perhaps on the bowling side too, dependant on who they leave out.
It might be a flat pitch.

once upon a time the best way to prepare for a cup final was to play a game of cricket.
it might be in our interests if Middlesex go into the last game still with a chance of promotion if they win the game....v Sussex of course. That way they might then beat Sussex and allow us to sneak up on the final lap and take the top spot.
Or am I being greedy here?

Tatts needs sacking as skipper, he's lost the toss and we've been put in to bat. Glamorgan obviously feel the chance of some early wickets can outweigh having to bat last. Let's hope we can thwart that plan.
Talk is of a results pitch that will take spin later on so no surprise we've gone with the pair of spinners. Tough luck on Luxton but you can only play 11 and they obviously want to cover all the bowling bases.

Odd looking strip from the live feed - green in places worn in others. If its going to take serious spin then I am surprised they put us in, though maybe that has as much to do with giving their key bowlers an additional day of rest before the Cup Final than anything.

It sort of looks green, and van der Gugton is a real threat, their equivalent of Coad. But McIlroy is rested. If it does spin, they will be batting last - I hope!
I think our selection is right, we're able to play six bowlers because of the batting ability of four of them, and that gives us cover for (dare one think?) a Fisher injury or a bad Thompson day. Revis's injury has made it tougher...but perhaps made selection easier!
Now it's time to enjoy, if that's the right word. There's so much at stake, a whole season depending on these two games. I mean next season. I want to go to Chelmsford, Trent Bridge, Worcester, Taunton, Chester-le-Street, etc., and I am very happy not to go to Derby, Leicester, Cardiff and (above all) Canterbury.
As it stands' the only certainty is that we won't be playing at Lord's, which suits me fine.
Currently 24 for no wicket. Keep going, lads. "Big session for Yorkshire," says Doidge, as I type. Now 28 for 0. A seven-hour squeaky bum day, I reckon.
