141 for 7 at the close. Early finish in prospect.

Just a gnawing worry, like a stone in your shoe, is the forecast rain after lunch tomorrow. We should be okay, but....
There's so much at stake. The difference next year between playing Surrey, Somerset, Essex, Notts, etc., compared with Glamorgan, Derbys and Northants, and the pleasure of travelling to Chelmsford, Taunton, Worcester, Hove, Chester-le-Street, all my favourite venues, places that can be part of a longer stay in those areas.
Plus of course the 1st Division. If we're in it, we can win it, and enjoy the exultation of being Champions again. I believe that, with a couple of bowlers, we're ready for that challenge.

Yes it's shame Glamorgan didn't do the decent thing and collapse this evening and have an end to it. It shouldn't take more than an hour in the morning to polish them off so we should be fine. Should we be exceptionally unlucky with the weather we will still have a 7 point advantage over Middlesex going into next week.
I'm sure that won't be the case and the 15 point lead will be intact come lunch time. I'm travelling to Leeds tomorrow and I presume R5SX will be stuck at Old Trafford. Since we have gone to the live streams of every game they aren't as good as they used to be at keeping those on the move up to date with other scores.

If you have a mobile phone with you, you can connect the commentary on any match to the car via Bluetooth on the BBC sports app.

If you have a mobile phone, and have a clue how to use it, you can....etc.
I'll be on edge until we win.

Witchfinder Dobell has written what I expect isn't a very nice piece concerning Yorkshire (behind a paywall) in the cricketer. The headline is that Jafar Chohan has been prevented from playing in the CPL because Yorkshire wouldn't sign a No Objection Certificate.
He's Yorkshire's player who they have spent a lot of time and energy getting back to fitness and I haven't a clue if the CPL deal was real or imagined and what Yorkshire's reasoning has been.
If the player has felt disappointed and run back to tell 'uncle George' that could be a problem. It's not reported anywhere else that I can see.
Quite surprised Jafar Chohan has been picked to play in the BBL, I hope he does well, but if he's looking to be just a T20 have ball will travel player then perhaps we've got enough of those on the books already.

I used to use my mobile to listen but for some reason it now cuts out every 10 minutes or so and I have to fiddle to get it back. At my advanced age I need both eyes, and quite a lot of my concentration on the road so have given up on it.
With only 3 games still going on I expect they might be able to manage to tell people when Yorkshire have won, Hopefully about 11.15 ish.

I assume Chohan has been denied the chance as he may be needed next week for the final CC match in case of injury to Bess or Moriarty or even if we decide to go for a bunsen burner and want 3 spinners to ensure its a result pitch. I suspect the type of pitch we want might be decided later today when we know the outcome of this game and the points needed next week.
I wonder if we would have been able to say No if the ECB gave permission for Bairstow to go and play in the CPL though?

Game over. We need ten points against Northants to be certain of promotion. I wouldn't go anywhere near a bunsen, I'd be much more inclined to produce a featherbed and bat for four days!

Absolutely. I'll settle for a couple of boring days next week, in exchange for a season of exciting ones next year.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work like that at Headingley. When we want a result pitch we get a flat one, and when we need a draw we get a greentop, as when we got relegated in 2022.
Technically, we could still draw and be overtaken, if we got just the 8 points, as in a washout. Middlesex would then need 23 or 24 to pip us to second place. Realistically, we have to lose, and they have to win, for us to be denied Div 1 next year. We have to assume Middlesex will win, against a Sussex side with nothing to play for.

Sussex have a little bit to play for - they still technically need three points, I think, to ensure the title, and will also want to finish the season on a positive note ahead of their return to the top flight after what is I think quite a long absence. I do make Middlesex favourites - simply because sometime on Day One Sussex should be confirmed as Champions and will inevitably tail off a little from there. Our own opposition have nothing to play for either, by the way!

Excellent work this morning, throughout this game and the entire second half of the CC season. Really chuffed with the way the team are playing lately.
As for the final game, I think Northants have burned through all their short term overseas signings now and have to stand on their own two feet. They do have the spine of a decent team in there though so it won't be a walkover.
A bore draw 500 plays 500 sort of pitch will do nicely. We are pushing it with the length of the season and surely the weather gods will have their say during the final round, even down in Hove.

Been away in the Lake District for a few days and caught up with scores whenever internet reception allowed.
Yes indeed a terrific run of CC results and achieved recently without overseas help or at Cardiff from YJB. A real team effort. And predominantly Yorkshiremen. (But well played Bess).
I would prefer the last round of CC matches to be played, as much as possible, in the same/similar ‘region’. Certainly Leeds and Brighton are a long way from each other.
Glad for Matthew Fisher, we all like him and have badly wanted him to get and stay fit - free of injury - but his contribution is bittersweet
Delighted for Coad. He has certainly had injuries and setbacks.. Very well done recently JT.
