1000 First class runs for Adam Lyth once again, not such good news this season for his partner but time is on his side.

Okay by Yorks, so far, but the unheralded Gorvin looks twice as dangerous as any other Glammy bowler. Two wickets already, and Wharton really struggling against him.
Yorkshire 100 for 2 at lunch. Derbyshire are 99 for 2 against Middlesex.
Harry Duke has 206*, young Joe Thompson 75* v Middlesex 2s.

100-2 at lunch, the two being LBWs for our left handed openers, both falling to Andy Gorvin's Mark Ealham impression. Bean's looked like it was touch and go to pitch in line (the live feed is not straight on) and Peanut got one that seemed to be given on the quality of the ball rather than the pedantic question of whether it was actually hitting the stumps (going over, surely!). But overall, good signs that this is not a bore draw road and also that Derbyshire are at least trying against Middlesex!)

142 for 2 off 38 and Tatts has gone in at 4 ... proper skippering!!
Bat long, score many. We bat down to number 10 and even Moriarty has shown some steel at the crease when it was needed.

In the interest of balance regarding the LBWs, Wharton appears to have just gotten away with one!

243 for 5 at tea, thanks to a lively Hill / Bess partnership. It's odd how Wharton, who has had a really good season, suddenly found the luck on his side when he struggled today; whereas Bean seems to get none at all. Lovely little knock from Tatts. I do enjoy watching him.
Elsewhere, Derbyshire bowled out by Middlesex, and it will be a surprise if they don't go on to win. But how many batting points? This really is crucial to ourselves. If they win with only 19 or 20 points, that has not really hurt us, unless we ourselves lose.
Final thought: I can hear the Cardiff public address, through my speakers, via the special effects mic, better than I can hear Howard Ferguson in the Trueman Enclosure!

First batting point in the bag, two more would be good, any more than that would be fantastic from here.
They, might be in danger of over bowling Gorvin and VDG with the new ball not a million miles away.
Early days but both Sussex and Middlesex look to be in pole position in their games.

Okay, 3 batting points, game moves forward. Next 30 overs pivotal to our season, I would suggest. If someone like Northeast gets stuck in, he could make 200, and then it all goes down to the last match, for us.
On the other hand..... Well, it's going to be exciting finding out.
Middlesex stuffing Derbys, but that's out of our control.

We are in a decent position after the first day, a quick wicket at the end would have been good but you can't have everything.
Looking at the score at Derby I'm even more pleased that we collected the 15 point cushion last week.
Still time for the world to be turned on it's head in all the games by the end of tomorrow. I hope Derbyshire and Gloucestershire aren't already on the beach.

I fear they are, whereas Glamorgan are playing with pride, as it should be.
I do think we're in the box seat here, there have already been signs of variable bounce and some turn too.

One over each for Coad and Fisher ... seemingly NE took a liking to what he got - perhaps he will not like the balls from the other end. Three points - that's OK.
Gorvin's little seamers looked very effective - I wonder who we have got who could bowl like ... Oh Yes ... could this be the sort of pitch where Mr Hill's little nippers skittle a few?
Another good batting display from Bess and Hill and Tatts, Wharton, Lyth and Bean as described by others.
Derby lost 7 for 40 against the indefatigable Ro-Ro Jones - and some pies from Holman. I suppose it would asking too much for Middx to play like a club 3rd XI for 3 matches in a row.

Day 2. Not a bad morning for us. If we can win, it doesn't matter a flying fox what Middlesex do.
Anyway, spin is ruling at Derby, it seems, looking at the bowling figures for Thomson and Morley.

Lead of 122, which is promising even if batting did seem to get easier as the day has gone on. Get past the new ball and it's game on.

So we have the same number of bonus points as Middlesex so the gap is still 15 as it stands. 1 more than Sussex for what that's worth.
Looks easy paced at the moment, here's hoping it becomes very tricky about tea time tomorrow.

OK so far - if Fisher can get us through and score a few then a blistering 100 from YJB might just move us along quickly enough. I hope. We are in effect, 238 for 1 and there are about 180 overs left over 2 days.
So far 187 overs have yielded 716 runs for 21 wickets and we are scoring at 4 an over which is roughly what we did in the first dig.
Another 250 (270?) leaving Glam wanting 500-odd to win in 3 and a bit sessions - say 100 overs? They would have to go a bit to get those.
Derby look like they might struggle even to to get Middx to bat again. Ro-Ro Jones has 7 for 62 so far and pie chucker Holman 3 for 13 in the match.
I can see the need for a darkened room somewhere in the next couple of days/
