Glamorgan had the last round off and have named the above 13 man squad. Nothing from Yorkshire yet in terms of the squad. Possible XI (Guess): Adam Lyth, Finlay Bean, Shan Masood(c), Joe Root, Harry Brook, George Hill, Jonathan Tattersall(wk), Dom Bess, Jordan Thompson, Matthew Fisher, Ben Coad. Weather forecast keeps changing, a bit warmer perhaps but still the chance of rain.

Is Gibson going to change his mind on Bess that quickly?

Has OG stated an opinion on Bess? And, indeed, has Moriarty yet been given a chance? Will we play a spinner with Root still in the side, though he's not with us at Hove - nor Brook.
For what it's worth, Dom Bess scored 0 in the first innings at Lady Bay, yet to bat in the second; and he had 33-4-127-2 in a first innings of 377 for 9, and 18-2-82-3 in the second innings 442. At least he's had some bowling, got some overs into his body.

Root and Brook batted well in the last game, in fact a delight to see but they will soon be gone. I think having them in the team didn't really make Yorkshire look more like winning a game overall as we couldn't bowl out the opposition quick enough
We're going to have to scrap for wins and my personal bias is to include Bess and not Moriarty if we include either. Bess has been playing, taking wickets and can both strengthen the batting and fielding.
We lost at least 4 sessions to rain in the last game and tomorrow's weather looks dire. Pitches are damp and our bowlers, after Fisher and Coad, look ordinary.
What goes on in our coach's head is anyone's guess but he persisted with Edwards ( when fit) and my belief is he's e 2nd-teamer at best. If they pick Hill then I'd like to see him bowl

Hearing that Milnes was injured I stuck Bess in there just to change things up a bit. I'm not sure he would make much difference and I really don't think he will come in until Brook and Root go and our batting may need some lower order help.
With Milnes injured, Edwards found out/injured, and if Leech or Cliff aren't worth a place, suddenly our bowling looks very thin again.

Otis Gibson raises the possibility of playing two spinner, perhaps he has Root down as one of those.
I don't like the weather forecast, it looks like one of those where the players are off and on quite a bit. Let's hope it's more on than off.

As of 9 pm, it looks like a near washout 1st day.

I'm not sure what to make of the weather forecast to be honest, I'm not going to Leeds until tomorrow though, just in case.
Live Blog suggests they think they may get started on time but the rain could move in any time after 12'O clock.
No team or even squad news as yet.

I'm in the Headingley area, it's not raining and from the blog on YCCC's OS ( written by a freelance journalist) I agree play to start on time but am not taking in a full day's worth of food.
I'd also like to say I expect Yorkshire to win the toss, pick a team including Bess and Hill both of whom get a chance of a decent bowl throughout the game. Hope springs eternal.

I'm going to watch the morning's play (or not-play) online, then make a decision. Tomorrow looks okay?

Glorious here in Scarborough, they should all get on a couple of buses and come and play here.

Yorkshire have won the toss and are due to bat, Moriarty and Bess in the XI, make of that what you will.

Yorkshire team, Lyth, Bean, Masood, Root, Brook, Bess, Tattersall, Revis, Fisher, Coad, Moriarty.
Sorry they have changed the toss and now it seems Glamorgan won it and will bat.

Is OG playing 2 spinners because he floated the idea last year and so wants to do regardless? I'm not thinking the pitch decided this. Or are we just going for a draw with the weather and not wanting to damage the bowlers in a lost cause?

I've no idea what is Gibson's thinking and I'm not sure he does either. Change for change sake? Bess, yes good move but two spinners ( four if you count Root and Lyth). It is still a mystery to me why Hill has had so little bowling when in the team and now making way for the extra spinner.
