Five Test series begins on the 25th of January through to the 11th of March.
England Test squad: Ben Stokes (capt), Rehan Ahmed, James Anderson, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Tom Hartley, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Mark Wood.
Some question about whether any broadcaster is willing to do a deal to stream the matches in England.

Yes a Mickey Mouse deal was done with the company holding the rights in India (Viacom18) to broadcast the series
It's going to be with Disney+
I understand there was a lack of tv companies coming forward to buy broadcast rights and don't know if that helps or if another broadcaster will 'enter the ring'
There's always my trusty radio(if there's a broadcast), useful to take on a walk too. Not sure what times the games start, maybe 10 pm GMT so I could listen through the nights.

Talksport have the radio rights, which is better than nothing, if only just.
All the games start at 0400 I think and so will be over before midday UK time which I think is putting off Sky and TNT due to the difficulty with numbers watching and advertising revenue. Their commitment to cricket only goes so far it would seem.
Channel 4, who bought the rights last time, seem to have burnt their sports budget on the Paralympics later in the year.
I'm not too fussed about watching it, however a decent hour long highlights package early evening would be useful.

TNT Sports are said to be going to pick up the broadcast of England's India series in the UK.
I understand this would include UK studio commentary of the live broadcast feed. I saw a picture of Kevin Peterson implying that if you are lucky enough to subscribe to TNT there is a downside 🗑

There was a time when I looked forward to test matches, but now there are so many, I hardly notice them. Less is more I think is a good mantra. If TV companies are getting bored then things must be bad. What was the origin of the word "test" in cricket?. Normally it means something that perhaps does not happen too often, and test matches of old were few and far between. Maybe they need renaming, regular check up matches, routine long form matches, for example?

I think the term goes back to the very beginning, when Victoria and NSW came together in an attempt to 'test' James Lillywhite's English touring team. In this they were successful, beating the team of English professionals by 45 runs at the MCG. So the First Test happened by accident, an extra game tagged onto a tour. It also gives the lie to the familiar quiz question about the first professional to captain England. Hutton, wrong answer! It was Lillywhite. None of the famous amateurs (WG Grace, etc) were on that tour, which was entirely a speculative money making venture for wintering professionals. As for TNT and KP, it's probably a better option than listening to the Indian home commentators, who will gloat if they win, and whinge if they don't. Thinking of Seth, I hope we get Isa Guha, who is the best female commentator by a country mile.

It seems TNT, ( the Sports broadcaster previously known as BT Sports) is signing a 5 year deal for cricket broadcasts from India. In addition to KP in the UK studio, there'll be O. Morgan comentating. Every silver lining has a dark ☁️
Should have signed up Bumble before Talk Sport

I hope there's some secondary rights for a highlights package.
I suppose because TMS doesn't have the radio rights the BBC will ignore the whole thing.

Sorry I got it wrong about the 📺 broadcast it IS TNT but taking the commentary from India and with UK studio 'pundits' - for pre and post-match (plus tea/lunch)
The commentary from India(Viacom) will include for the first two matches, Kevin Peterson and Eoin Morgan (that's with an 'E',sorry) but no English commentators.
📻 broadcasts from TalkSPORT, and of which I hope to avail. 🏏

Dan Lawrence to replace Harry Brook.
Harry Brook has flown home to England for 'personal reasons' and will miss the first Test starting on Thursday.

A private matter so I hope it is resolved quickly with the best possible outcome.
Dan Lawrence is currently playing in the ILT20 for the Desert Vipers.
I question the selection with an England Lions team currently in India. Perfect chance for Bohannon, but what do I know.
The ECB seem to have earmarked players, not good enough for the Test team, but too good for the Lions.
Dan Lawrence, like Jamie Smith of Surrey, seem to be players who they feel are better employed playing franchise T20 than honing their skills for the longer game. Grr

and now Kohli to miss first 2 tests for personal reasons.
I suspect he may be a bigger loss to India than Brook to England for a series in India but the bigger issue is that they are both supported at the time whatever the personal reasons are behind both withdrawals

Lot's of nonsense from the England camp about how Ben Stokes is fully over his operation and running around like a greyhound, but still isn't expected to bowl in any of the Test's.
However they dress it up I'd be surprised if he even takes the field for the first Test.

The Young Somerset spinner Shoaib Bashir has been forced to return to the UK due to delays in his Visa application. He's a British citizen I believe but he has a Pakistani heritage. Not the first time this kind of thing has happened it seems.
Rehan Ahmed already has a Visa after being in India recently with the World Cup squad. Of course if they had planned to arrive in India earlier!!!
I wouldn't have expected Bashir to play anyway but it doesn't bode well for the series.
