According to the match blog it's cloudy and overcast but dry at Headingley at the moment and a 10:30 start is possible if it doesn't rain.
The forecast suggests it should be raining now but it doesn't seem to have materialised.
I find it hard to believe but we will have to see what transpires.

I think I'm calling it now for the day at Headingley.
I hope they do get at least get some play at Hove, just to move things along a bit.

so if it rains for 4 days and we dont get a start at all, do we get enough points to secure promotion?

Depends how many bonus points Middlesex can get and if they can force a win. They won't be getting any points today, play has already been called off at Hove.
Some indication that water has got onto the wicket.
Chester-le-street also called off for the day.
Now the umpires have had some lunch they are making the decisions they should have made at 10:30.
No play at Headingley or at Cardiff today either.

Well we should play tomorrow but when will the outfield sufficiently dry? Late afternoon? Let’s see.

Dry and bright in Leeds according to the match blog, but very soggy outfield with the covers just coming off at 08:40.
It's probably a case of when rather than if we get play today but a start before lunch would be a bonus after yesterday's rain.
Forecast not so good for Middlesex down at Hove.

No play before lunch at Headingley, think they have had a heavy shower. Lunch to be taken at 12:00 with the toss etc to be sorted out after that.
Whose idea was it to play this late in the season!

Middlesex - off for the day. We have an inspection at 2-45 pm.
Wouldn't it be ironic if the lack of decent drains prevented any play ....... OK the water drop was horrendous but ..........

3:30 Start after tea of course, heaven forbid they should miss that, and 40 overs available. Yorkshire have won the toss and have decided to bowl, no surprise there.
Difficult to measure like for like of course with other grounds but I'm still not convinced Headingley drains as well as it could.

.. and on comes the man with the golden arms and it is 64 for 3 ... my player of the season ... well along with Coad of course!
... and that is the first bonus point ......
BTW Coad was the only YCCC player to make the BBC cricket site's team of the season.

117 for six, so now a draw earns us promotion, even if Middlesex gain a max-bonus-point win. I would like to attend tomorrow, then it can rain Sunday, just to ensure we don't lose. Or we can bat all day, tomorrow, just to ensure...etc.

I think the only slight danger is skittling them out quickly, getting skittled ourselves and losing a low scoring game. I would prefer to see Northants batting until well after lunch.

The Chairman from Sussex who was looking at the ground this morning intimated he didn't expect it would be fit for play even on the third day. We will have to see and of course we can't relax until it's a done deal.
But even with a couple of forfeited innings at Hove we are now 17, surely soon to be 18 points clear and whatever Middlesex tried to do they are snookered.
I don't think we are going to lose this game for a minute, but the way things are going we could probably afford to now.
