Lots to play for in both Divisions.
Division 1: Somerset (8 points behind) the only real danger to Surrey at the top, though Hampshire (27 points behind) could become involved if they both were to lose.
Surrey (1) v Durham (5) at the Kia Oval. Hampshire (3) v Worcestershire (6) at Southampton. Kent (10) v Notts (8) at Canterbury. Lancashire (9) v Somerset (2) at Old Trafford. Warwickshire (7) v Essex (4) at Edgbaston.
Kent (82 points) have all but gone, Lancashire (107 points) or Notts (118 points) will join them.
Division 2: I think we know what the situation is.
Gloucestershire (5) v Sussex (1) at Bristol. Northants (6) v Leicestershire (4) at the County Ground. Derbyshire (8) v Middlesex (3) at Derby.
Some last minute players movements. Northants, who we play next week have lost Prithvi Shaw and also loaned Emilio Gay to Durham for the run in prior to his joining them next season.

When do we follow football and introduce a transfer window so as to stop all this end of season nonsense with player movements?
I would propose no player can change counties in the last quarter of a season for a tournament.

I don't like the last minute signings and swapping either but have some sympathy when a player has a deal for the next season and goes early. We've been in that situation before. It's cricket, and you can be as cute as you like in terms of short term signings but it quite often doesn't work, as Surrey found out last week.
Some fascinating games, 7 of the 9 have either the Championship, promotion, or relegation riding on them.

Yes, i still say the best thing to ever happen to the CC was the introduction of 2 divisions with promotion and relegation. I think they should do the same with the Blast and that would then be another reason not to need the Hundred.

In terms of the Championship it's advantage Surrey after day 1, while Notts may be edging away from relegation:
At the Oval Surrey are 52-0 after bowling Durham out for 262. Last minute loanee Emilio Gay got a duck for Durham.
At Southampton Hampshire are 373-4 with Centuries for Gubbins and Dawson in a 199 run unbroken partnership.
At Canterbury Notts were put in and have amassed 393-6, with a handy full set of batting points not far away.
At Old Trafford 21 wickets fell in the day with Lancashire bundled out for 140 only for Somerset to get just a half a dozen more on 146. The loss of Keaton Jennings early in the second innings may well be significant. Lancashire ended the day on 16-1.
At Edgbaston, performance of the day to Warwickshire, all out for 78 inside 28 overs. Essex lead by 111 on 189-9 at the close.
In our Division the top 3 are all in decent positions going into day 2.
At Bristol after T20 heroics Gloucestershire could only manage 109 against Sussex who ended on 149-4.
At Northampton 4 wickets from overseas Yuzvendra Chahal reduced Leicestershire to 203, Northants are 134-3 at the close.
At Derby the home team continued to let themselves down after a strong start they collapsed to 173. Better start from Middlesex on 125-1.
All to play for on day 2.

From ESPN report of yesterday's play at Canterbury.
"Games at the Spitfire Ground have followed a pattern for Kent fans this season: a slow erosion of hope during the first innings before despair sets in during the second; there's admirable but futile resistance in the third and then defeat in the fourth, if it goes that far.
Tickled my fancy, you could probably use it to cover Derby too.

Still plenty of mileage in most of the games going into day 3, although not at Edgbaston. Essex only managed to score 232 yet still beat Warwickshire by an innings and 40 runs.
At Lords Surrey are in the driving seat after reaching 415 and have a lead of 152 over Durham, 262 and 1-1. Durham lost night watchman Parkinson rather than a batter and with Lees, Bedingham, Gay and Ackermann they could still cause Surrey problems.
At Southampton Hants 462 and 3-0 have a 192 run lead over Worcestershire, 273.
At Canterbury Notts only managed 4 batting points in the end scoring 433. They bowled Kent out for 225 and enforced the following on, Kent 85-0, standby for the collapse tomorrow morning.
At Old Trafford Lancashire fought back ending the day on 298-7, a lead of 292 over Somerset, who won't want to be chasing many more than that.
In our Division.
At Bristol, a little better from Gloucestershire 2nd time around, at 140-3 they still need 62 to make Sussex bat again. Love to see them bat all day tomorrow.
At Derby Madsen looks the only hope for Derbyshire who are 74-3 and still need 111 to make Middlesex bat again.
At Northants, Leicestershire 69-4 also need 111 to make Northants bat again .

Tickled my fancy, you could probably use it to cover Derby too. Nearly every game I have seen in Kent has been an exercise in suppressed boredom. Rob Key was playing in most of them. The only place where rain is better than the action. I agree Derby is not a bundle of laughs, either. Thankfully, they usually put us at lovely Chesterfield, a ground to uplift the soul, and usually a challenging and fair pitch, too. I think Slough of Despond covers it, though Slough is in Berkshire, not Kent.

I'll be amazed if Middlesex and Sussex aren't celebrating success against Derbyshire and Gloucestershire respectively by early afternoon if not before lunch.

Looks like they were able to do so before lunch, and I hope we are able to be in that position today as well!

Just the three games left to be decided on the final day.
Somerset 204/6 still need 189 runs to beat Lancashire. Losing a wicket last ball yesterday didn't help. Not impossible but very difficult in a game that means so much to both teams.
At Southampton Worcestershire 117/5 have an even bigger mountain to climb needing a further 277 to win, not so much riding on this game.
Biggest mountain is for Glamorgan 141/7, still 255 behind.
In a race to finish the games before lunch I'm hoping Cardiff wins hands down.

Grudging congratulations to Surrey on their third in a row. Difficult to argue they haven't deserved it with 8 wins and a game to go.
Hopefully we will have a say in their hopes for a fourth next year. Home and away would be nice.

Yes, the first team since the 1960's to buy three consecutive titles. Money - and favourable relations with the ECB - certainly talks!
