harry showing the southern softies, some true Yorkshire grit as he is diggin in against a Somerset seam attack that has run through the Essex top order like a dose of Phil Salts.
Harry currently 20 from 70 balls!

wickets aplenty elsewhere, in fact everywhere bar at Headingley as Kent are 6 down, Essex all out and Derbyshire 8 down.

20 wickets in the day at Taunton, I believe the pitch has been known to flatten out, if it doesn't it may well be as good as over tomorrow.
Good watch for the spectators, if you like to see wickets fall that is, maybe not so much fun if it does finish in two days and the Somerset team are on the wrong end of it. Porter and Cook once again in the wickets for Essex.
Kent 203/7 at Old Trafford in 69 overs against Kent. Two brittle looking teams and perhaps a chance for Nathan Lyon to make his mark.
Only 8 wickets at Derby with Derbyshire in trouble against Sussex at 189/8 in the 44 overs possible. Our games against Sussex are starting to look very important in the context of our promotion hopes. No play at Lords not good news for either Middlesex or Leicestershire.

Have Somerset swept away all the dust and sand and replaced it with very green grass?
Well done Harry Duke.

Great pitch at Taunton, a good crowd in the ground + 4,000 on YouTube being entertained. Batsman could score runs, with bravery, technique and just a bit of luck. Bowlers were rewarded for their efforts, perhaps a smidgen too much, but better than the other way round. Lovely day, too, and splendid views over the Quantocks.
They seem to have renamed the Trescothick stand, now the Hildreth. Hard luck Marcus, sic transit, etc. We oldies still remember you.

With the game over in two days at Taunton the Somerset supporters, and indeed any Essex supporters who have travelled over for 3 or 4 days, will have time to go for a walk in the Quantocks during the rest of this bank holiday weekend.
Interesting to see if they get away without having their wrist slapped for producing a sub-standard pitch. Mind you the wheels grind so slowly we will have all forgotten about it before they face any sanctions.
At Old Trafford Kent, who managed 261 will have been very surprised to be in a position to enforce the follow-on against Lancashire, 92 and 119 for 4, still trailing by 50 runs. Bring back Glen Chapple.
In our division, Sussex 357/5 look well placed to collect maximum batting points and, leading Derbyshire by 111, their second win of the season.
At Lords Middlesex 64/1 trail Leicestershire 306 by 242 runs. Both teams have done well to move the game forward after a washout on day 1.

Just the 3 games left going into the final day including the match at Headingley of course.
A short term overseas signing, Jayden Seales took 5 for 29 for Sussex, which did for Derbyshire in short order. Derbyshire all out for 109 in 26 overs in their 2nd innings means they lost by an innings and plenty. That takes Sussex to the top of the table with two wins.
At Lords it looks like a draw as Middlesex 407/8 lead Leicestershire 306 by 111 runs. They would need a good few more runs to embarrass Leicestershire I would think.
In Division 1 Lancashire look up against it despite doing a lot better second time around 92 and 332 all out. Kent 261 and 71/1 just need another 93 for the win. Kent always have a collapse in them but it would take something very special to turn this around for Lancashire.

Kent held on to beat Lancashire, first away win at Old Trafford for a couple of years. Mind you there's very few wins for even the home team over there.
No play at Lords so 15 points for Middlesex and 13 points for Leicestershire.
That keeps them both ahead of us in the table given we are likely to have to settle for 16 points.
