Division 1. Essex v Kent, Hants v Lancashire, Notts v Worcestershire, Surrey v Somerset Warwickshire v Durham.
Division 2. Glamorgan v Derbyshire, Leicestershire v Sussex, Northants v Middlesex.
Good luck to Durham in their first taste of Division 1 cricket since their forced relegation in 2016. I'm presuming they will get on the pitch for this one.

Warwickshire 284-0 probably isn't the welcome to Division 1 that Durham wanted. Over 5 runs an over too, ouch.
Batters generally in command, a few overs lost with a late start at Cardiff but otherwise lots of cricket.

1105 runs for the loss of only 8 wickets so far at Lords in the game between Northants and Middlesex, we go there next.
On the bright side we will be back to using the Duke ball.

While hoping the weather relents enough to allow Yorkshire to finish the job against Gloucestershire, I'm also hoping it chucks it down all day at the Oval to thwart Surrey who are on top against Somerset.

Surrey are currently doing a professional job. Lancs will be looking to Lyon.

The games at Northants v Middlesex and Leicestershire v Sussex have both ended early due to the weather. Glamorgan v Derbyshire off due to rain and looks like a nailed on draw. This game, well to say we need a wicket is an understatement.

Notts v Worcestershire is the latest game to have the plug pulled due to the return to winter weather.
Best chance for a result and some exciting cricket looks to be at Chelmsford where Essex have notoriously fickle Kent on 40/4, chasing a lot.
The Oval seems to be too docile for Surrey to take even 4 wickets today, and if they do they now have quite a few runs to get.

so 9 draws, even when the weather allowed more play.
Plenty of runs for players who usually struggle to make half centuries are scoring big tons - Potts as nightwatchman, but plenty of others cashing in and boosting their batting average when given a sniff.
I am not sure this sort of cricket is going to do the CC any favours at all, or see punters flock to watch the next round of games.
Mind you the IPL is just as dull - record high scores, smaller boundaries, little in it for a bowler (ask Reece Topley with the 3rd worst return in T20 ever yesterday).
We need to get back to a better balance between ball and bat pretty soon

Another 9 games coming up on Friday and I suspect several more positive results with the return of proper balls. Nice to see they let all the teams play at least 3 games before starting to rotate the breaks. Last season some clubs played just the one game and then were given a free week.
There also looks to be a pattern of giving each of the clubs two home games on the trot at some stage, every little helps.
