England Lions training squad for a pre christmas training camp in the UAE has been announced. Matthew Fisher, once a fresh faced newbie and now a senior statesman is involved.
Headline pick is the young Atherton, Josh De Caires, the Ollie Robinson is the Durham keeper and not the Sussex bowler.
England Lions squad: Rehan Ahmed, George Balderson, Shoaib Bashir, Josh Bohannon, Brydon Carse, Jack Carson, James Coles, Josh De Caires, Matthew Fisher, Tom Hartley, Lyndon James, Tom Lawes, Dan Mousley, Callum Parkinson, Matthew Potts, Rishi Patel, Ollie Price, James Rew, Ollie Robinson, Josh Tongue, John Turner.
The players have been picked to concentrate on red ball cricket, which is nice!

Bean I can sort of understand - he clearly has a bit of an issue against the short ball and quicker bowling that he will need to work on before he can think about moving up to the next level. The bigger surprise for me was that George Hill was not given a go.

I don't think Bean is ready either, but I hope it's a different story this time next year when they come to picking a Lions squad.
We do seem to be a bit out in the cold at the moment with England U19 and Lions selections. I think that's more to do with the emergence of some outstanding talent from elsewhere, which in the long run will turn out to be a good thing as England leave our good young players to help Yorkshire for a change.

Agree , leaving our young players alone is not a slight or a problem but more power to Yorkshire's elbow particularly as , like most Yorkshire supporters , we want promotion in 2024
