Some help to start to break down the winter into smaller segments.
7-11 October - First Test, Multan
15-19 October - Second Test, Multan
24-28 October - Third Test, Rawalpindi
Early morning starts, 6 am or thereabouts. Games are on TMS thank heavens, and Sky Sports I hear have signed a last minute deal to show them.
England squad: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Harry Smith, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Ollie Stone, Shoaib Bashir, Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed and Jordan Cox.
Pakistan of course led by the Yorkshire linked pairing of Jason Gillespie and Shan Masood.
I always have trouble keeping track of Pakistan's players, they seem to swap over so often. 16 players have made their debut since the beginning of 2020. I thought that was a lot but checking I see England have had 20 players making their debut in the same period, this could rise to 22 if either Cox or Carse get a game.
For comparison, Australia, just the 8.

thanks Newby - very helpful in determining which 2 days of the week I go into the office and which 3 days I work from home..... (well the living room with the Sky Sports Cricket channel on at least...) Gillespie (their coach) and Masood (their skipper.... but for how much longer?) provide some Yorkshire interest, as of course will Saud Shakeel and Haris Rauf if selected. I don't think Sarfraz Ahmed or Shadeeb Khan tend to feature in their test team? Anyway Dizzy says they are not fit enough for test cricket.... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cd98kg020pdo

Looks like Ollie Pope will continue his run as stand-in Skipper with Ben Stokes seemingly unlikely to play.
It's not on at the right time of day for me to watch but I will catch the highlights and listen during the morning.
I generally like cricket from Pakistan, it's just that little bit on the edge and likely to descend into a shambles at any minute.

England XI for first Test against Pakistan:
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (captain), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, Jack Leach, Shoaib Bashir.
We may or may not have enough bowling against Pakistan, who may or may not take us to the cleaners. I'm glad it's not India or Australia we are facing.
Brydon Carse will become the 6th new Cap this year, and it's still only October.
