Presumably some will sign with southern hemisphere clubs of varying standards, or perhaps do a bit of coaching. But what of the others? Who pays their rent? Do players have regular winter jobs?

They are all full time these days, those not involved in England training camps etc will have October off I presume and then get back in the gym sometime soon.
Matt Revis and James Wharton have either gone, or will soon be going to Australia to play grade cricket.
I was just reading about the new all weather facility at Bradford Park Avenue so they might spend some time there. There's usually some cricket going on in the UAE/Dubai but with the world cup on that may not be the case.

I read that Dom Leech is joining Matt Revis and James Wharton in playing grade cricket in Australia this winter.
Shan Masood is playing cricket of course for Karachi West.
Mickey Edwards, and possibly a few others will be having medical procedures to fix up long standing problems.
Matt Fisher of course is going to the UAE with the Lions squad.
Adam Lyth will probably nip of to the T10 tournament when the World Cup is over.
They are the only ones I know about.

Yorkshire’s men and the Northern Diamonds women will return to pre-season training next week.
The squads were back in at Headingley yesterday for a day of fitness testing.
They will then begin to ramp up preparations on a more regular basis from next week.
New men’s signing Dan Moriarty met up with his new team-mates yesterday after signing a three-year deal to join the county from Surrey towards the back end of last summer.
Fitness will no doubt be the priority for the players in the early stages of pre-season.
Matthew Revis and James Wharton are up and running in Australia grade cricket having made their respective debuts for Gold Coast Dolphins and Wanneroo in Queensland and Western Australia.
Both players are in two-day action, and have been selected to make their debuts in the first grade competition – something not usually certain for English imports.
Revis took the new ball and claimed 3-46 from 15.3 overs in bowling South Brisbane out for 178 before his top order team-mates advanced to 119-2 in reply. The Yorkshire all-rounder is yet to bat for a side captained by Australia left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann.
That is likewise for Wharton in WA. Wanneroo are currently playing Mount Lawley, who are 316-5.
Both games play to a conclusion tomorrow.

Thank you very much Newby for that very interesting and detailed update. Nice to know Yorkshire are 'back in harness' and the boys in Australia too.
This brings the new season that bit nearer.

Update on the boys in Australia. I've not had a lot to do today obviously.
James Wharton top scored with 99 for his team Wanneroo who won by managing to score 317/5 chasing 316.
Matthew Revis only made 7 with the bat but he added 2-13 to last weekends 3-46 to help the Gold Coast Dolphins beat South Brisbane. Dolphins look a strong team with several Aussies I've heard of Ben McDermott, Matthew Kuhnemann and Xavier Bartlett playing so hopefully Matthew Revis can hold his own, which I think he can.
The big names will be going to the Big Bash soon I presume.
In the league they seem to play a match over two days on consecutive weekends. That's one day per weekend if you are confused. They keep playing until the overs are used up so some games go to a second innings others don't.

Not so good this weekend for our boys working in Australia.
James Wharton out for a 2 ball duck in Wannaroo's 203 all out over in Western Australia.
Matthew Revis out for just 2 runs in Gold Coast's 402 all out.
You can't win em all.

The games started last week finished today. No great feats of cricketing daring do from our lads.
Dom Leech took 1-38 in 16 overs last week and followed it up with 4/0 off 4 overs this week. He also scored 8 in his one innings for Woodvale. I can't work out who won that game.
James Wharton didn't get to bat again but he was called into action to bowl 4 overs, never a good sign. Wanneroo went down in that match.
Matthew Revis took 1-55 in 14 overs and scored 8 runs in the second innings to help Gold Coast to another win.

While stretching the definition of what represents the 'off-season' I think a lot of them don't play any cricket but turn out in the Hundred.
Perhaps we should call the August period the 'Time Out' or 'The Hiatus' when the only cricket played is the One-Day-Cup - and blooming good it is too.

Over in Australia with the up and coming players it's Dom Leech who starred last weekend. Playing for his first grade team Woodville against Tea Tree Gully in a 2 day game in South Australia.
Woodville scored 343/9 in their overs with Dom Leech making 47 on the Saturday. Tea Tree's reply was kept to 304/8 in their overs on the Sunday, with Leech taking 3/64 in 22 overs.
In Queensland in a game played today and to be concluded next weekend Matthew Revis scored 53 out of total of 357/10 for Gold Coast. Their opposition, University of Queensland are 19/1 at close. MR bowled 4 overs for 7 runs.
Over in Western Australia James Wharton and his team Wannerroo will bat next weekend. They restricted Melville to 242 all out after their 90 overs today.

Great time of year to be in Oz, but their English pounds won't go far.

Over in the Sunshine.
Matthew Revis took 2/67 to follow up his 53 with the bat for Gold Coast. Gold coast had already scored their 357 ao last week and they bowled out University of Queensland for 321. That seems to be close enough to be called a tie, don't ask me how.
James Wharton fell for a 1st ball duck but his team Wannaroo scored 244/8 to beat Melville (242/9)
Dom Leech's team Woodville were involved in a One day cup and DM wasn't involved as far as I can see.

Dom Bess currently playing for the Southern Rocks in the Logan Cup in Zimbabwe. He took 5/99 on the first day as the Mountaineers made 400 all out.
On the second day scored 46 out of the Rocks total of 405/9d
Day 3 not so good, he bowled just 3 overs for 27 runs as the Mountaineers made 255 all out, he did effect a run-out.
Chasing 251 to win the Rocks stumbled to 50/7, Bess made 4 and they have a lot to do to win on the final day.
Elsewhere, Adam Lyth, playing for the Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10 made 39 not out from 24 deliveries in their 97. Team Abu Dhabi scored a 4 from the final ball in their reply to pull of the win with 100/3

It's sometimes claimed Yorkshire players don't do well playing abroad in these competitions.
But as Fred Flintstone said, 'Abu Dhabi do'
